BY SURVIVORS, FOR SURVIVORS

The Dandelion Initiative is a federally incorporated non-profit, a grassroots intersectional feminist organization, by survivors for survivors.

Founded in 2016 by our founder and Executive Director, Viktoria Belle; co-developed and led by a diverse group of women and trans folks to this day. We fundamentally believe in the power of intersectional feminism, education, empowerment-based programming, and survivor-centric practices as a form of resistance to gender-based violence and rape culture.

We also believe in the power of gender equity and community collaboration to prevent and respond to sexual harassment and gender-based violence in and out of our workplaces.

Our mission is to disseminate survivor-centred gender-based violence education, training, and policy development to multi-sectors and communities across Turtle Island.

We also aim to serve survivors with front line services that are barrier free, low cost or free..

The proceeds from this work ensure our trauma care and support services for survivors of sexual/gender-based violence remain free or low-cost at all times.

We prioritize the voices, expertise, and needs of Women, 2SLGBTQ+ survivors, Black, Indigenous, and Racialized survivors, Survivors from oppressed communities and cultures. Survivors who feel forgotten or unseen. This organization was started on the steps of city hall. Throughout the last six years, people have shaped this organization, impacted this organization and helped this organization continue its important work.

We aim to amplify the voices of survivors and our work through an intersectional feminist, Survivor driven, trauma-care framework.

As a small grassroots non-profit we also prioritize using our capacity building grant and small donations in a way that prioritizes hiring and centering women, 2SLGBTQ+ and BIPOC survivors and their families.
